When he hands over the baton as head of the IAAF (international Association of Athletics Federations) next August, the president, Lamine Diack will continue to be a monument of the first Olympic discipline. Indeed, the Eiffage group chose him as patron of the international Marathon that it is organizing in February 2016 in Dakar on the toll motorway. The news was given by Yacine Fall of Eiffage-Senegal Marketing
Department last Saturday at Demba Diop Stadium, where the final of the Autoroute de l’Avenir inter-departmental football tournament took place.
‘Apart from football, there are events such as swimming, and the marathon. We recently participated in the marathon in Somone. Next year, we’re going to organize an international marathon in February 2016. This will be on the toll motorway with the participation of top athletes and Lamine Diack as patron. We’re trying to diversify with investment in developing other sporting disciplines’’ she announced.
Concerning the organization’s objective, Yacine Fall said that it "encourages sport in the company and a spirit of fraternity to spend some good time together after work. Each year, we organize football tournaments, marathons and swimming competitions. There’s the tournament with all the partner companies who signed the CSR Charter" the head pointed out.
According to Didier Payanne, Operational Director of SENAC SA, "The international marathon will be a huge event. It is an official marathon recognized by the International Federation of Athletics Associations (IAAF). We’re expecting Africa’s and at least the world’s elite".
The final tournament, which brought together four (4) teams was won by the ‘Topo & Terrassement’ Department which cost ‘Génie Civil & Réseaux’ 4-0. The classification match went the way of ‘Gares de Péage & Préfabrication’ against ‘Laboratoire & Atelier’ 1-0.
