The 1st Marathon de l'Autoroute de Dakar date will take place on 13 and 14 February 2016 for all running enthusiasts, international competitors and lovers of running. 10,000 runners are expected for this international event whose patron is Lamine Diack, President of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). A festive marathon for everybody; organized by Eiffage who is celebrating its 90 years in Senegal in 2016.
A unique experience
To give everyone an exceptional experience of athletics; this is what this first ever event held in Senegal aims to do. The route of this international marathon will take the runners on the Autoroute de l’Avenir, the 1st toll motorway in West Africa, designed and managed by Eiffage.
By offering several types of race, the Eiffage Dakar Tollway Marathon is above all open and accessible to all: professional and amateur athletes, families. The legendary 42.195 km event will be supplemented by a kids race, 5x1 km relay, 10 km walk, 10 km run and half-marathon. More than 1,000 volunteers will be mobilized during the week-end.
A big celebration
Beyond the personal challenge and pushing yourself to the limit, participants will be able to enjoy a festive and friendly atmosphere. There will be activities all along the route. The Marathon Eiffage de l'Autoroute de Dakar heart will beat to the rhythm of the Marathon Village.
It will welcome all the public, participants, families and spectators with a programme of numerous activities; in particular, cultural events led by the Senegalese sculptor and member of the Académie française, Ousmane Sow.
